Prison Health Care

The healthcare provision with HMP Hull currently incorporates an 18 bedded inpatient unit, and a General Medical Service- which includes dentistry, ophthalmics, and podiatry.

The Inpatient Nursing team care for clients who are deemed not to be fit for location on the main wings due to a physical or mental health need, this includes palliative care patients; post op patients; and elderly clients requiring an activity of daily living assessment with Long Term Conditions.

The General Medical Service and its nursing team currently includes the provision of Nurse Prescribing clinics, nurse led clinics, reception health screening, undertaking treatments, discharge planning, and providing an emergency response service to the whole prison until the end of day at 20:30 hrs. Nurses lead on sexual health clinics, and work in partnership with the Health Protection Agency. We also have a health promotion team who coordinate a health promotion programme for prisoners.

We also have a fully operational pharmacy within the prison and offer pharmacist led medication clinics.
