Picnic in the Park Returns to St Helens for Mental Health Awareness Week

08 May, 2026

Residents are warmly invited to join Picnic in the Park, a free community event hosted by St Helens Wellbeing, taking place on Wednesday 14 May from 12pm to 5pm at Taylor Park.

Last year’s event was a great success, with people from across the community enjoying the relaxed and supportive atmosphere, and the organisers are keen to build on that success for the 2026 event. In 2025 many local people turned up to  Picnic in the Park, with positive feedback from local families and other residents who took advantage of the chance to talk to support services that are based on their doorsteps.

Supporting Mental Health Awareness Week, this year’s theme is “Taking Action,” encouraging individuals and communities to come together, connect and take positive steps towards improving mental wellbeing.

This year will once again feature a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere with a variety of local organisations offering support, resources and activities. There’ll be a chance to connect with services including St Helens Wellbeing, Dads Matters, Homestart, Standing Tall, the Come Together Hub, Parents in Mind and many more. All these groups play a vital role in supporting the community.

And if that’s not enough, there will be live music and entertainment with fun for all ages. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own picnics and join friends and family to make the most of the beautiful surroundings of Taylor Park.

This event is all about reducing stigma around mental health, highlighting the support that’s available and inspiring people to take meaningful action, whether that’s reaching out for help, supporting others, or simply connecting with their community.
