THE URGENT TREATMENT CENTRE WILL BE OPEN 8AM TO 8PM UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. THIS IS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.
7 days a week, 365 days a year, 8am – 8pm. The last booking is 7.30pm.
The x-ray is open 8am - 8pm, 7 days a week. The last booking is 7.45pm.
The x-ray does not cover the following: hip x-rays , chest x-rays, facial x-rays , neck or back or pelvic x-rays.
If you have an urgent injury that is not serious, life or limb threatening you can walk into your nearest Urgent Treatment Centre. This is a walk-in service for the injuries listed below.
For any illnesses please ring NHS 111 for assessment first. Injuries should be acute and less than 72 hours old.
- Cuts and grazes
- Sprains and strains
- Simple broken bones
- Minor burns and scalds
- Minor head injuries
- Insect and animal bites
- Minor eye injuries (foreign bodies in eye)
- Back, head and neck injuries/whiplash
- Minor back injuries
- Skin infections/rashes/allergic reactions
- Urine infections
- Raised temperature/fever
- Wound and wound infections
In addition, Urgent Treatment Centres have access to x-ray facilities and patient diagnostic testing including urinalysis, blood glucose testing and ECGs, allowing nurses and paramedic practitioners to assess and diagnose conditions and prescribe medication if needed, issue prescriptions and provide onward referrals to othe services such as fracture clinics.
If you are unsure, the advice is to ‘Talk before you walk’ by contacting NHS 111 and, where appropriate, a clinical advisor will assess symptoms, provide advice and guidance or decide what medical help is needed, advise where to go, or arrange an appointment.
