Bridlington Street Trials - July 2022

1

Our project is to develop an interactive navigation app, to enable our participants to navigate round our trail displays. The app would show users the location of each display, it’s title, owner, and location along with a photo. It would then allow the user to access walking directions to the display. Once at the display, the user would be able to mark the display as “visited”, and verify this by answering a simple question. The app would also display the details of our sponsors, as well as promoting healthy living content such as smoking cessation services, Health Trainers and free exercise events. We have approached an app developer who has agreed to a heavily discounted price of £2,000 for developing this app. We would really appreciate your support in this project.

Once the app is developed we anticipate it will be in use frequently throughout the year for several years, continuing to benefit the community.

We believe that participating in our trails aids physical and mental health benefits, as well as promoting the arts.  Everyone within Bridlington is free to take part in our trails, both as display-creators and trail-walkers.

The biggest problem we have had to date is providing an easy method to tell people where the displays are, how to get to them, and how to let us know they have seen them. The app will provide this, so we anticipate it helping hundreds of people over the next few years. Increasing the number of people who can easily access the trails will also enhance the economic benefit to the local community, as many of our display creators are small local businesses.

In making our trails easier to navigate, this project will increase participation in our events, as well as encouraging walking over driving for completing our trails. This in turn will help us to maximise the benefits of mental and physical well-being and community spirit, as well as helping to keep down carbon emissions and maintain air quality. Increased participation also increases the footfall to local businesses who take part in the trails. The project will also help us to attract sponsors, as these will be featured in the app, further cementing a financial legacy for the organisation and our aims.
