Scunthorpe Lithuanian Community Group
Scunthorpe Lithuanian Community Group integrates Lithuanian speaking people into the English environment, by encouraging them to find help and support and to make friends. The group helps to tackle cultural isolation its members meet in their daily life at work, school and at home.
Therefore, communication activities are encouraged within the group to help people with their self-esteem. They run a Lithuanian Sunday School for children, classes are run by professional teachers and children aged from 4 to 13 participate.
The grant provided will contribute towards Lithuanian folk dance classes. The classes will be held for both men and women, young and of elderly age. The project reflects the idea that all generations can be involved in the same activity without being discriminated and tacking social isolation, as well as encouraging people to be active.
