Friends and Family test goes live at CHCP CIC

01 October, 2014

City Health Care Partnership CIC (CHCP CIC) is one of the first community health care providers in the country to go live with the NHS Friends and Family Test on 1 October.

The Test is being used across NHS services to ask patients how likely they are to recommend their care and treatment to their friends and family. The results are published regularly so the public can compare results in the services they use.

In order to make it as easy as possible for everyone to fill in the test, which only takes a couple of minutes, the team at CHCP CIC have devised lots of ways for people to give feedback. These include filling in the test on an iPad at a clinic, using a website at home, posting back a paper questionnaire or even using a tablet computer at home if they are too poorly to go out. The method will vary from service to service.

CHCP CIC were part of the pilot to roll out the Friends and Family test in community services, as up to now it has only been used in acute hospitals. Their work was so successful that it was used in the guidance for all organisations who are now being asked to use it in their services.

Chief executive Andrew Burnell said, “We are always asking our patients for feedback as we need to know that we’re providing the services they need in the way they want. The Friends and Family Test is an excellent way of asking people about their experience as soon as possible after they’ve finished their treatment, while it’s still fresh in their minds. We used the answers that people gave us in the pilot to make changes in the six services that were running it and we’ll be doing the same across City Health Care Partnership CIC so we can continue to provide the highest quality care.”
