Our psychological wellbeing practitioner (PWP) can provide support to adults who are experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression and would like to manage them more effectively. The principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) are the primary treatment method used.  The key idea behind CBT is that what you think and do affects how you feel. Our PWP uses guided self-help materials to explore and introduce helpful, practical techniques and coping strategies to improve the way you feel. Treatment with a PWP:

  • Is short term
  • Is goal focused
  • Is present focused (the here and now)
  • Requires active patient participation

If work with a PWP is not suitable they will provide details on other treatment options and can make a referral into the local NHS Talking Therapies team.
