St John's Community Project
A group of local residents meet on a weekly basis at St John's Church and Community Centre, Rosemead Street, Hull. the group was formed to provide activities for local residents and to increase the range of provision within the church.
The group gives residents a sense of belonging in their local community and helps to reduce social isolation. They provide activities for adults, but also assist in providing for families in the area.
The CHCP Foundation will go towards expanding a gentle exercise programme which encourages more residents to join in activities at the church. The programme is designed to engage those aged 55+ in physical activity, to reduce the effects of leading a sedentary lifestyle.
Activities provided as part of the programme include; exercise to music, chair aerobics and dance based movement sessions. Peple are encouraged to participate regardless of ability or mobility, adaptations can be made for those in wheelchaires or mobility scooters.
